And ohhhhh is today a GOOD day because today is the day I get to finally show you guys the maternity shoot we did of the absolutely beautiful Sharon & Chase (and of course, coming soon, baby Ava!!) We got together with these guys last month when we were down in Charlottesville, Va for our anniversary. We met up with them to shoot all around an apple orchard (on a day when all of VIRGINIA decided to go apple picking!), grab dinner with them, and feel if baby Ava had perfected the ninja kicks that her mom is now so famous for (for any of you who have met Sharon, you know she spontaneously starts doing ninja kicks whenever she gets really excited about something! :) So with only a couple of weeks until Ava makes her BIG appearance, you can be that Sharon is doing ninja kicks all around their house right now!
S&C we hope these pictures always remind you of what this moment right here feels like, waiting on Ava to arrive. Your love is SO beautiful, and I know that little girl is going to be the luckiest girl on the planet having you guys as her mom & dad!! We LOVE you both! To the moon & back.
We met up with each of these guys around the workshops we were traveling for this month: Sarah & Dave in Annapolis when we were down in Baltimore and Jeanine in Dallas. This guys live pretty far from us, Jeanine especially, so I was SO happy we could make it work and get to meet these new friends.
What I love about the mentoring sessions is that it really gives us a chance to focus in on one person (or in Sarah & Dave's case, two! :) and what they most need to work on. We can give really custom advice & come up with a next action plan based on that person's specific circumstances and goals. And I also love that each one is so different. Because the mentoring sessions can be about anything our mentees want to work on, no two are exactly alike. Where Sarah & Dave preferred to get some really hands on, one-on-one instruction for all things lighting and tough spots using a flash, Jeanine opted instead to hone in on branding and workflow. Which was awesome! I think we were actually able to shave about 5 hours off of her workflow for each job! And I can't wait to see the amazing things she does with all of that life she just got back!
For each of our mentoring sessions, they include the 2 hour session on anything our mentees want and then they also get a mini-headshot session with it. Since Sarah & Dave are starting to shoot together more & more, they decided to do their session together as a mini headshot/anniversary shoot. I just adore how sweet these two are together! I know you will too!
For Jeanine's shoot, we decided to head out to Las Colinas and play along the riverfront with all of its super cool windows, doorways and staircases. I LOVED this spot! And Jeanine really brought it, from her super cute teal dress to her amazing collection of vintage cameras (which Justin couldn't stop playing with!) Jeanine, seriously you just light up a room. Or in this case, a waterfront! You are beautiful from the inside out! I hope you know that!
We only have FOUR more mentoring session spots left this year! Two in October & two in November! They are $750 for the 2 hour session & the mini-headshot shoot including a PASS gallery of the high res files. They can be done either at our place in CT or in conjunction with our travels for weddings & workshops. Over the next two months we will be in: Georgia, Virginia, Philadelphia, Oregon & Miami. So if you're in one of those areas let us know & we can try to make it work! The price for mentoring sessions will be going up in January for the 2014 season, so if you've been thinking about doing a session now is the time! Shoot us an email at firstname.lastname@example.org and we'll get you all set up!
And to round out this crazy fun week of photo posts & send you off into the weekend right, we have for you the sweet Saltwater Farm anniversary shoot of the amazing Margot & Tim!
Margot & Tim are photographers themselves, and I LOVE that because it means they know just how important pictures are & how important it is to make sure that you're not just having your love documented on the wedding day. But over time, as you grow in your marriage and build a life together as well. Because that's the beautiful part. Justin & I had our anniversary pictures done last year & we LOVED the chance to just hold on to one another & document who we've become. Together. We're hoping to have it done again this year. And the year after that! So to all of our past clients out there & the other photographers reading this, I would SO encourage you to do the same...the last pictures you have together should not be on your wedding day! And then if you need somebody to do them, be sure to call us! Ha! :)
Besides really caring about the pictures, the other things that I loved about Margot & Tim were how they balance each other. She's a firecracker and full of life, while he is her calm constant. A due North guiding the way. She's there, always pulling for him. And he's there to hold her up. They laugh together. And fit together. And they are more themselves around each other than they ever are alone. I believe if you really want to get to know who a person is, see who they gave their heart to. And after seeing them together I know, Margot & Tim are our kind of people!
So sit back & welcome in the long weekend right as you....
We have been shooting like CRAZY lately (I guess 'tis the season!), with four shoots last week alone! And we can't wait to show you guys everything, so we decided to make this week kind of a power week of photo posts to get everything up. And I can't think of any better way to kick that off than with the headshots we did recently for the incredibly talented, not to mention gorgeous, Miss Tiffany Farley!
We first met Tiffany when she did a mentoring session with us about a year ago, and she has since become one of our closest & best friends. Tiffany is one of the most insanely gifted & talented portrait photographers I know (seriously, go follow her stuff if you aren't already!) So when she asked us to do the new headshots for her site, we were beyond honored! We met up at a local beach, where we were blessed with the best glory light all evening long!
Before the shoot, Tiffany warned us that she "gets really awkward in front of the camera & doesn't know what to do." And I am here to tell you that she is a LIAR! :) This girl can work it both behind AND in front of the camera like nobody's business. Some girls have all the luck! :)
So sit back, relax & grab a cup of coffee as you....
I first met the adorable Katie Yuen at one of our "Spread the Love" workshops in NYC a few years ago & then again when she helped out on one of our Walk Through a Wedding workshops. Since then, Katie has become someone I'm lucky enough to call a friend. I've watched her finish photo school, get married, and now start her photography business full time. A little while back we were able to get together with her to do one of our Mentoring Sessions + Mini Headshots, to brainstorm where her business should go from here. We created a strategy, set out a next action plan, and laid a path forward. Together. And from what she's told me, she's already tearing through that list we gave her like nobody's business. And I for one, can't wait to see her fly.
Katie is kind, loyal, and a gifted encourager. She is one of those bright shining lights that you just know is going to set the world on fire....and help a ton of people in the process. She stands for the good stuff. All of it. I'm telling you....keep your eye on this one!
**And if you are interested in signing up for your own Mentoring Session + Mini Headshots, so we can rock out a next action plan for your business & what's next- together- just shoot us an email at email@example.com!!
