You know the thing about the shoe cobbler's children? They don't have any shoes.
And so it goes with photographers.
As a group, we tend to be the ones taking pictures and capturing life just as it is right now for other people. But when it comes to our own silver frames, they tend to stay empty. I think the last time Justin & I had someone else take pictures of us together was three years ago when we were re-branding. And even then, it only happened because it was something we needed for the business. Before that it would have been five years ago at our wedding.
I've decided that this has got to change for us.
I want to remember what we were like right at this very moment. What five years into our marriage felt like. How he still looks at me like there's nobody else in the room, and what it feels like to hold his hand. These days go by so fast. And before we know it, they'll be gone. And I just want to do everything I can to hold on to them as tightly as I can.
So we've made a plan this year to celebrate our five year anniversary (coming up in October!) to have our picture taken together a few different times. To burn into our memories what this moment felt like. And when we forget, we'll have those pictures to remind us.
And you know what? I think we'll go ahead and do it again next year too. :)
We were SO lucky to have these pictures done of us while we were out in Portland for the What If Conference by our new friends, the incredibly talented Elizabeth Kaye & Tyler James. These two are amazing!! We spent time walking around the city, shooting pictures and talking about life with the two of them. And somewhere along the line, we fell in love. Fell in love with the two of them and how great they are together. Fell deeper in love with each other. And fell even more in love with the power of pictures, and this thing that we do.
Because when we forget, they help us remember.
**Beth & Ty, we can't thank you enough for this gift you've given us! We love you guys to the moon & back!!
