A couple of days ago I woke to the smell of Fall in the air.
We had fallen asleep the night before with our windows open. The temperature outside had settled into that uncertain couple of degree middle ground between air conditioning and open air windows, and we had fallen asleep trying to decide. By morning light, the air was even cooler. And as it tiptoed its way across our bed, where I'm certain it was on its way downstairs for a glass of water, it ushered in with it the unmistakable first deep breaths of Fall.
I lay there wrapped in the warmth of our double stacked duvet, and felt the cool air on my face. And I breathed a little deeper. I stuck one foot out and wiggled my toes. I'm not really sure why. It just seemed like the right thing to do. And as I lay there soaking in a new day dawning, this one thing was certain.
Every morning, all year round, should start out just this way.
If you've been around this blog any length of time you know by now, we're kind of Fall worshippers in this household. We put up Halloween decorations way too early, I'll wear sweaters even when it's still 80 degrees outside and it gives new meaning to the name, and I am always always the first in line for the pumpkin spiced lattes at Starbucks. Justin was born in the Fall, we got married in the Fall, and if I could spend my whole life walking down tree lined streets wrapped in a scarf with the sound of leaves crunching under my feet I just might do it.
Nothing against winter, spring & summer....they're all great in their own right. And I am, in fact, hoping that summer will hold on just a few days longer so we can log some beach time before it goes. But Fall.....Fall is where my heart is.
So in honor of Fall being in the air (Ayer, Ayer!) I thought I'd put up a This or That to ask you guys which part of the fairer season you're more excited for: breaking out the sweaters, scarves & boots.....OR pumpkin spice lattes coming back to Starbucks??
