And the beauty of the past four days is finally able to sink in beyond a haze of exhaustion, jam-packed schedules and bleary eyes. See, every morning we were up at 6am to days packed full of sessions, meetings, roundtables and interviews. And every night we would fall into bed as the blur of the day's activity lulled us off to sleep.
We were down in New Orleans to give our talk "How to Be a Rainmaker: Ten Tips to Turn the Tides" at this year's PartnerCon.
Yep, that's why we went.
But as it turns out...as is so often the case... that was not the reason we were there. See, we went there to talk to you. But in the end, it turned out that it was You who spoke to Us.
You came in and packed the room, when...let's just be honest and go ahead and put it out there... we fully expected it to be just us and the crickets chillin for the hour (I mean we were going up against both Denis Reggie and Melissa Jill for crying out loud!! Who draws that slot??) And You came up afterwards to share your hearts with us. So to all of You who took the time out of your day to stop us in the hall (ok, ok... or the bathroom! :), to come over during lunch, or to take a ride with us in the elevator to share your stories with us....to all of You....thank you.
seriously, thank....You.
Because I can tell you right now that we learned worlds more from You these past four days than we could have ever hoped to teach you. Even if we did go 10 minutes over our allotted time. :) And here is what we learned from You.
You....
....feel like you are alone, but...
....are not alone
....have a lot of people counting on you.
....have the weight of the world on your shoulders.
....are doing everything you can...and it's still not enough.
....juggle more than anyone I know.
....want more.
....want less.
....take care of everyone else
....do not take care of yourself
....feel like you're on the verge of something big.
....can see where you want to be.
....have no idea how to get there.
....have overcome so much already.
....feel like you have so far to go.
....are tired.
....are tireless.
....are afraid.
....are Fearless.
These things we learned from You. Because You spoke to Us.
And we know now, that is the reason we were there.
